Quarantine at Dorsett Grand Subang

Dorsett Grand Subang has to step up their game in the Premium Quarantine Package’s hospitality offered. Some bedrooms are in dire need of repair, refurbishment and in all likelihood pest control as well. Stains, splats, moldy bathroom, dusty room, presence of roach and insects, peeling wall reflect poorly on the prestigious 5-star hotel. After a tiring journey and the assiduous safety procedures at various checkpoints after arrival, what the PUS needs is just a clean and comfortable room to sleep in, what’s more after paying a premium price.

Undoubtedly there are newer rooms in finer conditions and the ones with a balcony are a blessing. The hotel’s customer relation team has been praised for their courteous, professional service and swift response. There is a chat group to keep everyone under quarantine updated which is helpful. Wifi connection has been reliable. The food is relatively ok. Thankfully a microwave is provided to heat up the meals which have been prepared in advance, sitting there for some time awaiting the distribution process.

This is a shock for Premium Package. Despite courteous and professional service from fnb manager Azlan and duty manager Pandora, our experience here has been tainted by: Scraps of food and rubbish still evident under bed, couches and tables. Asked for a vacuum to clean ourselves but even vacuum was falling apart held together by duct tape. Evidence of heavy mould in bathroom, on carpets and peeling wallpaper. Water is dripping through window and ceiling.

I chose the Dorsett Grand Subang and seriously regret it. Here are the main grouses: For starters, there was no coordinator to meet us when we arrived in the basement of the hotel. After 30 minutes of calling, the driver gave up and allowed me to proceed to the lobby to get assistance. There was one person at reception, but he was not answering the phone. The unrenovated old wing of the hotel is being used for quarantine purpose, and the saggy mattress I had is well pass it’s useful life. I had to remove it in order to sleep on the firmer base to save my back. To continue, food is basically edible, nothing to shout about. Online food orders will be delivered to the room only once a day from 6:15-6:45 pm. Hence, orders have to arrive at hotel before 6:15pm.

Quarantine for 14 days and I have to say this is the worse 5 star hotel I have stayed in. The room has not been cleaned correctly dust all over the Furniture, mirrors have old splats and finger prints all over. The bath room has ants coming through the floor tiles also after that had Cockroaches in my bathroom. Rooms very outdated wardrobe doors hanging off runners.

The food that’s being supplied to the guest for Quarantining is Disgusting. Every meal half cooked and we have to put it into a microwave to heat it up and then everything is Soggy.

Grand Dorsett Premium Package.
Pros: Large enough room, work desk, small table to dine on and space to roll out a yoga mat. I was fortunate to get a room with a massive balcony. Sufficient supply of bottled water and can request for more. Internet was stable for zoom calls /work. Only once, I experienced 5 minutes of down time. Huge bed. You can order from a limited menu from the hotels restaurant. Staff was always helpful. Clean room, no insects or issues overall.
Cons: Pillows are extremely thick. Food was average. Only 1 dinner was of high standard. Don’t expect restaurant quality food. Shower lukewarm in general.

The reception was well organised with friendly and personal touch. The room was with balcony facing the lake and its surrounding greenery. Nice fresh air with morning sun. The balcony was big enough for our morning stretching exercise and evening walk round to burn the extra calories cumulated from the three meals and high teas. The room is old but well upkept and clean. The bed is comfortable and the bathroom with bath tub and the water pressure was strong enough for a nice shower. Beverages adequately supplied enough for the week. There is a mini fridge and micro wave oven. Thanks to Rachel, Azizul for swift response on our reservation. Gratitude to Azlan for personal care and good service on our food. Good food and different menu. Appreciate CK Tan for creating a health chat group to update us make things clearer and avoided anxiety. Thanks to the Duty Manager for swift response to our call for help. Great efforts have been made to make our stay relaxing and comfortable in confinement.
